Scottish Council for Independent Schools - ICT Managers’ Meeting

The next SCIS ICT Managers' Meeting, organised by Adrian Semmler, Director of IT for George Heriot’s School, takes place in Glasgow on 20 November, with SOCS and Easy4U joining as co-sponsors. 

Bringing together ICT managers from across Scotland’s independent schools, the meeting is an opportunity to share ideas, explore emerging technology and stay ahead of the fast-changing digital landscape - with practical insights into how schools can use technology responsibly and efficiently. 

The programme features three expert sessions covering AI in education, the future of school technology, and 1:1 technology provision. 

On the agenda 

AI-ready teachers create AI-ready pupils 
10:30–11:30 | Dr Will Van Reyk, Co-Founder and Chief Academic Officer, Pedagogue 

Dr Will Van Reyk will explore the role of teachers in preparing pupils for an AI-enabled future, sharing practical thinking on developing AI-ready staff and responsible adoption of AI across schools. 

Future roadmap and developments 
12:00–12:35 | James Kershaw Naylor, Director Commercial and Product, SOCS 

James will share the latest SOCS roadmap and upcoming developments, offering ICT managers a look at what’s next for the platform and how SOCS is continuing to support schools as their technology needs evolve. 

1:1 technology for schools 
1:35–2:35 | Richard Harris, General Manager, Easy4U 

Richard will explore the opportunities and practical considerations around 1:1 technology provision in schools, including how schools can approach technology solutions effectively across their communities. 

There will also be plenty of time for refreshments, networking and discussion with fellow ICT managers, culminating in an SCIS ICT Managers’ discussion to shape the agenda for the next meeting.
