New Features & Updates

Big things are happening at SOCS

Over the coming weeks, we'll be sharing a series of updates, each one a piece of a bigger picture:

Individually, each of these is significant. Together, they are what a truly unified platform looks like in practice, one that keeps getting better, keeps going deeper, and keeps putting schools first.

None of this happens without the right people. In the past year, our tech team has more than doubled, and that investment is what's making all of this possible.

We can't wait to share more, and there is a lot more to come. This represents the move to SOCS 2.0: not just a fresh lick of paint, but a brand new tech stack, and the new SOCS Pupil and Parent Portals are the first tools built directly on top of it. It's been a remarkable year, and we're only getting started.

SOCS has always been the unified platform at the heart of the world's leading schools, a single, joined-up system built around the real rhythm of school life: sport, music, activities, and everything in between.

The best schools in the world run on SOCS. And the best is still to come.

Feature update: Fixture times required for clashes

Fixtures must now have both a meet time and return time entered for clashes to appear on tuition and co-curricular registers.

This brings fixture registers in line with how clashes already work on SOCS Transport and SOCS Sport fixture registers, and ensures clash detection is accurate.

Please note that when selecting a team for a fixture in SOCS Sport, clashes are still flagged for any other fixtures on the same date regardless of time. This change applies to register clashes only.

If clashes are not appearing on registers as expected, check that the fixture has both a meet time and return time entered.

Feature Update: New gender filtering option for teamsheets

You can now filter by gender when selecting pupils for team sheets in SOCS Sport, in addition to the existing filtering options.

This update makes it quicker and easier to find and select the right pupils when managing team selections.

SOCS roadshow coming soon

With so many new features on the way, we’re planning a series of SOCS user groups across the UK.

These sessions will be an opportunity to connect in person, share best practice, hear how other schools are using SOCS, and get an early look at what’s coming next.

Further details will be shared soon. In the meantime, if your school would be interested in hosting one of the events, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch with us at events@socs.tech

SOCS at the ISC GSA Digital Conference

It was great to be at the ISC GSA Digital Conference and spend time speaking with schools about what’s ahead at SOCS. There has been plenty happening behind the scenes, and it was exciting to share an early look at some of the developments currently in progress.

It was also fantastic to be joined by Pedagogue at such an exciting time following the official launch of the SOCS AI Standard, powered by Pedagogue and developed in collaboration with St Paul’s Girls’ School.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by to chat. We’re looking forward to sharing more in the months ahead.

Planning clubs for next academic year? No need to wait

A quick reminder as we know this is something many schools ask about at this time of year.

SOCS automatically understands that pupils will move up a year group in the new academic year, so you can set up clubs for September as normal before completing your pupil rollover.

For example, if a club will run in September for Year 10 pupils, simply create it as a Year 10 club. Current Year 9 pupils will still be able to view and sign up, as SOCS recognises they will move into Year 10 for the new academic year.

Once your sign-up window has closed, you can complete your pupil rollover as usual with no impact on registrations.

If you have any questions or would like support with your setup, our Support team is on hand and happy to help. Get in touch at support@socs.tech
